Requirements, status of compatibility and realization

The website meets the requirements of the Barrierefreiheitsgesetz as far as possible and goes beyond the legal requirements in some aspects. The following standards and guidelines, among others, were taken into consideration:

  • Harmonized European Standard EN 301 549, Version 3.2.1
  • Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG), Version 2.2, Levels A and AA

We are constantly implementing measures to further improve the accessibility and user experience of our website.

This includes:

  • The website was tested for accessibility, then extensively revised and adapted to accessibility standards.
  • A menu with accessibility features has been integrated to enable additional accessibility settings.
  • Any future development of the website (e.g. new content, functions) will take accessibility into account from the outset.

Fulfillment of the Requirements

  • There is sufficient space between letters, lines and paragraphs.
  • If you have difficulties with the font, you can select the system font in the accessibility menu.

Alternatives for non-text content

  • For content that does not consist of text, there are alternatives that do not require vision - these include alternative texts for images, icons and graphics.

Zoom

  • You can zoom in on the website by up to 200% without losing any content. You can use the appropriate settings in your browser and operating system to do this.

Keyboard control

  • You can control the website with an external keyboard. This applies to all areas and functions, and navigation takes place in a logical sequence.
  • Interactive elements such as links or buttons are visually highlighted when selected with the keyboard to make navigation easier (keyboard focus).

Support for screen reader / Braille display

  • You can operate and output all areas, content and functions of the website with a screen reader. This is done either via an acoustic output or tactilely via an externally connected Braille display.

Time limitations

  • If an element has a time limit, this will be announced in advance. You can then extend, change or deactivate the time limit.

Headings and labels

  • The website has a clear and meaningful semantic structure, with meaningful headings and labels that promote easy navigation and comprehensibility.

Links

  • Links are identified by more than one visual feature and are provided with meaningful link text.
  • To further improve the recognizability of the links, the “Highlight Links” function can be activated in the accessibility menu.

Auditory (hearing)

It is also possible to use the website with impaired or no hearing – no information is conveyed exclusively via sound.

Alternatives for audio content

  • Subtitles or other alternatives are available for videos and audios with spoken content.

Physical (mobility, reach, strength)

The website is fully usable even with limited mobility. You do not have to reach far or use physical strength to operate all functions.

Keyboard control

  • You can control the website using an external keyboard. This applies to all areas and functions, and navigation follows a logical sequence.

Target size

  • Elements have sufficiently large target size and are spaced far enough apart.

Display layout

  • The website is responsive and works in different display layouts. You can use your device in both landscape and portrait mode - the content, areas and functions automatically adapt to the selected mode.

No complex movements

  • No gestures or movements are required (e.g. swiping or dragging).

Time limits

  • If an element has a time limit, this is announced in advance. You can then extend, change or switch off the time limit.

Speech

The website works with limited or no speech. It does not require the ability to speak and there is no corresponding content.

Cognitive (psychological, neurological, neurodivergent)

You can use the website with limited or alternative cognitive, psychological or neurological abilities. This also applies if you identify as “neurodivergent”.

Semantic structure

  • The website is structured in a logical and predictable way.

Headings and labels

  • The website contains meaningful and sensibly structured headings and labels.

Links

  • Links are identified by more than one visual feature and are provided with meaningful link text.

Comprehensible texts

  • Texts are easy to understand and are written fairly simple.

Auto-Fill

  • Fields for text input support Auto-Fill by the browser or operating system.

Errors

  • The website is designed to help you avoid errors - for example, through clear labeling and instructions.
  • Input is checked and you receive feedback so that any errors can be easily identified and corrected.

Animations

  • Only a few simple animations are used on the website. To avoid distraction or discomfort, these can be deactivated in the accessibility settings via the “Reduce Motion” setting.

Flashing

  • The website does not contain any light or flash effects that could trigger photosensitive seizures or discomfort in sensitive persons.

Audio output

  • Subtitles or transcripts are available for audible content. The volume and, if available, the speed of media content can be adjusted.

Non-Accessible Content

The following content is not fully accessible for the reasons outlined below:

Non-compliance with the accessibility regulations

  • Meaningful alternative texts (alt texts) are provided for the majority of the images used on this website. However, due to technical circumstances, a few images may currently appear without alt text. We are continuously working on closing these gaps and providing suitable alternative texts for all remaining images.
  • Incompatibilities with the accessibility regulations are regularly reviewed to ensure that all requirements are met as far as possible. We attach great importance to making continuous improvements and implementing any adjustments promptly in order to ensure accessible use.

Disproportionate burden

  • Individual interactive elements of the website - particularly in the online store area - are currently not fully operable via the keyboard. The complete adaptation of all functions for unrestricted keyboard use requires extensive technical changes, which currently represent a disproportionate burden for us in terms of the applicable legal provisions. We are endeavoring to implement future developments as accessible as possible. If you have any difficulties using the website, especially when making bookings or placing orders, please do not hesitate to contact us by telephone or e-mail. We will be happy to assist you with your request.
  • Video and audio content created before June 28, 2025 is currently not accessible. We are of the opinion that the retroactive implementation of corresponding measures would represent a disproportionate organizational and financial burden.
  • Some content on this website is difficult to understand for users of screen readers. At present, not all structural and content-related relationships - such as heading hierarchies, labels or relationships between elements - have been implemented in such a way that they can be fully and comprehensibly understood by screen readers. The comprehensive reworking of all existing content is associated with considerable effort and currently represents a disproportionate burden in terms of the applicable regulations. However, we are endeavoring to make new content as accessible as possible and to gradually improve existing content.

Content outside of the regulations

  • There are older documents and content available on the website that are not accessible. As these were published before June 28 2025, they are exempt from the Barrierefreiheitsgesetz and no comprehensive change is currently planned for them.
  • The website contains documents and content from third-party providers that are neither developed, financed nor controlled by us. No statement can be made regarding the compatibility of this third-party content with the accessibility provisions and it is therefore also exempt from the requirements of the Barrierefreiheitsgesetz.

Accessibility Menu

You can use various accessibility menus on our website that allow you to adapt the appearance and operation of the site to your individual needs. These functions can be found in the bottom right-hand corner of the browser window or via the skip link menu. To further optimize your user experience, several functions can be combined at the same time so that you can adjust the settings as required and achieve an even better effect.

The following functions are available in the accessibility menu:

Summary of the current page

  • Generates a summary of the current page in simple language created by artificial intelligence (AI), which summarizes the most important information in a short and understandable way. Please note that the summary may differ from the original version.
